Day 01: Yangon – Putao (-, -, D)                             

Depart from Yangon Airport to Putao airport with the domestic flight. Arrive Putao and transfer to Guest House. Putao is situated in the north of Myitkyina, the capital city of Kachin State. The weather is cold around the year with snow peaked mountains, and different ethnic minority tribes can be seen. Putao is a good starting point for adventurous trekking and it is also the nearest town to Mt. Khakhaborazi (5889 metres), the highest mountain in Myanmar and in Southeast Asia. Friendly hill tribe people can be found when they come to sell goods at the market. Enjoy dinner and overnight at Putao Lodge.

 

Day 02: Putao – Machanbaw – Babaw (B, L, D)

In the early morning, take a walk to Putao market (approx. 10 mins) and visit attractive local market where usually busy with the buyers and sellers of local ethnic tribes. After breakfast, drive to Machanbaw village located across Malikha River, home to Rawan people by jeep or truck depending on group size. We will walk across over 213 meters long suspension bridge while our truck crosses the river. Our destination at Babaw through Alangga, Htangga and Uringga will take around 8 to 10 hours on rough and dirt road. You should prepare for the long and rough journey ahead since the road condition is considered as really rough and bad. Enjoy dinner and overnight at one of the local homes.

 

Day 03: Trek to Kwinmaling along Gasang creek (B, L, D)

After breakfast, we will continue to our destination at Kwinmaling to trek along Gasang creek which may take us about 6 hours where the water color is usually dark-green. Arrive at Magweza camp and take a rest for a while. After lunch, cross Gasang creek over 113 meter long suspension bridge linking Ratbaw I and II. Continue trek to Kwinmaling where the majority people are Rawang mixed with Kachin and Lisu tribes. Enjoy dinner and overnight at one of the local homes.

 

Day 04: Kwinmaling – Nomung (B, L, D)

After breakfast, continue trek to final destination at Nomung, the last frontier town of Myanmar, situated at 1640 ft/500 meters above sea level with the distance of 6 km which approximately will take us 3 hours through 30 meter long suspension bridge across the Beekoat creek leading to the bottom of the mountain. Trek up the shoulder of the steep Beekoat Mountain and descend towards lowland along the creek with green plantations belong to the village. Rawang tribe is the majority people in the village and you can culturally and socially interact with the friendly local people. Enjoy dinner and overnight at one of the local homes.

 

Day 05: Nomung – Maza (B, L, D)

Enjoy breakfast and we will change our direction on west to Maza on different route along mule trek. Trek along Kasankha stream with the distance of 6 km and will approx. take 3 hours. Enjoy lunch and continue across a suspension bridge and trek around 4 hours with the distance of 8 km. Have dinner and overnight at a camp (Tent Accommodation).

 

Day 06: Maza – Namti (B, L, D)

After breakfast, we will turn our direction to south-west towands Namti, situated at 2300 ft/700 meters above sea level which will take about 6 hours with the distance of 19 km. First 6 km is up hill towards the shoulder of Mt. Babulohtan (locally known as Noi Ngum) by winding route through its top. Along the way up, you will witness many different species of orchid and birds. If the weather permits, you can enjoy the spectacular view of snow-capped mountain in the far north. There will be snow on the top of this mountain during the winter season. This is the place that very well-known botanist Frank Kingdon Ward has found many rare species of orchids during his botanic survey in 1920. Some of the rare orchid’s species such as Phiopedilum Wadii or Cyprepedium Wardlamon (generally known as Black Orchid) which has been named after the founder believes can only be seen in Myanmar. Beside Black Orchid, there are many different species of orchids can be found in this place such as Indrovian, Clanthi, Simpidium, and Simpripedium etc. Noiwinlit and Babulonhtan valley actually is the depot of botany in northern Myanmar with a huge range of flowers including Rhododendron Dendricoala and many different species of Begonias etc. Have lunch on the way and dinner and overnight at one of the local homes.

 

Day 07: Namhti – Namsabum – Putao (B, L, D)

After breakfast, continue trek through winding mule trek to Mamsabum which takes approximately 5 hours with the distance of 15 km. Once you climb on Mt.4525 ft/2380 meter, you will see snake like crawling Namti creek down in the bottom of valley from the distance. Cross Htikha creek over through a suspension bridge and the trek goes through up hills and then to downhill all the way to Namsabum. Along the way, you will see groups of monkeys jumping everywhere and making loud noise as we go through forested jungle. Continue trek to Salundum about 2 hours with the distance of 5 km on a relatively easy path. Then cross Malikha River by boat to Htawadum where jeep or truck will be waiting to take you back to Putao. Enjoy farewell dinner with fellow group members, including your porters, and commemorate the experience that you have shared for the past few days in this unique part of the world. Overnight at Putao Lodge.

 

Day 08: Putao – Yangon (B, -, -)

Enjoy your last breakfast in Putao and further visit in and around Putao with suggestion by your guide before you transfer to airport. After all, depart from Putao airport to Yangon to conclude this unique experience.
