Day 01: Yangon Arrival
Upon arrival at Yangon International Airport, our gracious local guide will warmly welcome you with a signboard and transfer you to your hotel for check-in. Begin your journey with a visit to the National Museum (closed on Mondays and Tuesdays), where you can marvel at the 8m-high Sihasana Palin (Lion Throne) of King Thibaw Min, the last Burmese monarch, among other fascinating exhibits.Drive through the vibrant Chinatown and the Indian quarter, where Colonial-style buildings stand in harmonious contrast with the elegant Sule Pagoda, gracefully positioned at the heart of Yangon, and the stately City Hall.
Continue your exploration at Bogyoke (Scott) Market (closed every Monday and public holidays), renowned for its extensive collection of Burmese handicrafts.
As the day draws to a close, experience the enchanting sunset at the Shwedagon Pagoda, the spiritual heart of Buddhist Myanmar, believed to be over 2,500 years old. Witness the devotion of countless worshippers making offerings, especially on Full Moon Days and other religious occasions.Conclude your day with a transfer back to your hotel for an overnight stay. Lunch and dinner will be enjoyed at a charming local restaurant, offering a taste of authentic Burmese cuisine.
Day 02: Yangon – Mandalay
After breakfast at the hotel, you will be transferred to Yangon Domestic Airport for your morning flight to Mandalay. Upon arrival, embark on a journey to Amarapura, a former royal capital established in 1782. Here, visit the iconic U Bein Bridge, stretching across Taungthaman Lake. Built around 1850, this 1.2 km bridge is revered as the oldest and longest teakwood bridge globally.Next, proceed to Mahagandayon Monastery, Mandalay’s largest Buddhist learning center, where you can observe the daily lives of monks and immerse yourself in the serene atmosphere. Explore silk weaving workshops, witnessing local artisans at work.
Continue your exploration with a visit to Mahamuni Pagoda, constructed by King Bodawpaya in 1784. This revered temple houses the Mahamuni Buddha image, originally brought from Mrauk-U in Rakhine State. Discover Marble Carving and Gold Leaf Beating workshops, showcasing traditional craftsmanship. Check-in at your hotel before continuing to Shwenandaw Monastery, also known as the Golden Palace Monastery. Built in 1880 by King Thibaw Min, this historic monastery is renowned for its exquisite teak carvings depicting Buddhist myths.Visit Kuthodaw Pagoda, constructed during the reign of King Mindon, renowned for housing the “World’s Largest Book,” a collection of Buddhist scriptures inscribed on stone slabs. Explore Kyaukdawgyi Pagoda, also known as MahaThetkyaMarazain Pagoda, at the base of Mandalay Hill. This pagoda features a massive marble Buddha image carved from a single block.Conclude your day with a visit to Mandalay Hill to witness a breathtaking sunset over the city. Day 03: Mandalay – Hsipaw
After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, embark on a scenic drive to Hsipaw. Along the way, experience a unique journey by taking the train from Naung Cho Station to Naung Pain Station. This train ride is renowned for passing over the “Boteik Viaduct,” the largest railway trestle in the world. Constructed between 1899 and 1900, this viaduct is Myanmar’s highest bridge and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.Upon arrival at Naung Pain Station, continue your journey to Hsipaw by car. Check-in at a guest house, as hotels are not available in this remote region. Take some time to rest before exploring Hsipaw Haw, the Old Shan Palace renowned for its ancient architectural design. Visit the ancient pagoda complex, where you can marvel at the more than 100-year-old Bamboo Buddha image.Conclude your day with an overnight stay in Hsipaw, immersed in the rich history and cultural heritage of this charming region.
Day 04: Hsibaw – Namhsam
After breakfast, depart for Namhsan, a renowned starting point for trekking adventures. En route, delight in the stunning vistas of expansive valleys and picturesque mountains. Namhsan, nestled in the hills of the Shan Plateau, is inhabited by diverse ethnic groups including the Kayin, Lisu, and Shan tribes.Upon arrival in Namhsan, settle into a simple guest house accommodation. Embrace the tranquility of this remote area and prepare for an overnight stay, surrounded by the natural beauty and cultural diversity of the Shan region.
Day 05: Namhsam
After breakfast, embark on a trekking expedition to explore Palaung villages nestled amidst lush tea plantations. Witness firsthand the warm hospitality, rich culture, and daily routines of the Palaung ethnic group, known for their unique traditions. Immerse yourself in the local flavors, savoring regional delicacies such as sticky rice and fresh jungle meat.As night falls, settle in for a memorable overnight stay in the village, surrounded by the serene beauty of the Shan Plateau and the authentic charm of Palaung village life.
Day 06: Trekking to Village
After a simple breakfast, proceed towards Pan Kwan Palaung village, where you’ll have the opportunity to interact with friendly villagers and immerse yourself in the cultures and traditional way of life of the Palaung and Danu people. Trek through picturesque villages, gaining insights into their daily routines and unique customs.Experience firsthand the warmth of the local hospitality as you engage with villagers, learning about their traditions and perhaps even participating in local activities. Spend a peaceful night in the village, surrounded by the serene landscapes and authentic atmosphere of rural Shan State.
Day 07: Nanhsam – Hsibaw
Enjoy a simple breakfast before embarking on your return journey to Hsipaw, trekking through charming villages along the way. As you traverse the scenic landscapes, take in the sights and sounds of rural life, interacting with locals and experiencing their daily rhythms.The trek back to Hsipaw offers an opportunity to reflect on your experiences in the tranquil surroundings of Shan State. After a fulfilling day of exploration, arrive in Hsipaw, where a comfortable guest house awaits for a well-deserved overnight stay.
Day 08: Hsibaw – PyinOoLwin
After enjoying breakfast, continue your journey to PyinOoLwin, a picturesque hill town in Mandalay Division, once a British Hill Station known as Maymyo. Discover the historical charm of PyinOoLwin, where well-preserved colonial buildings reflect its colonial past.Your first stop is Peik Chin Myaung Waterfall and Caves near Wetwun village, offering a glimpse into natural beauty and local geological formations. Next, visit PweKauk Waterfall, renowned for its cascading waters amidst lush surroundings.Explore the renowned National Kandawgyi Botanical Garden, renowned for its extensive collection of flora, including exotic orchids, dahlia gardens, rose gardens, and various fruit trees. Wander through the downtown area in the evening, taking in the local ambiance before retiring for the night at a comfortable hotel in PyinOoLwin.
Day 09: Pyin Oo Lwin – Mandalay – Mingun– Yangon
Enjoy a delightful breakfast at your hotel and then embark on a scenic drive to Mandalay. Upon arrival, head directly to Mandalay jetty for a leisurely 45-minute boat trip to Mingun. Mingun, known for its historical treasures, offers a unique experience as you explore the sights aboard traditional Bullock-Carts.Begin your journey with a visit to the impressive Mingun Bell, recognized as one of the heaviest functioning bells globally, weighing an astounding 90 tons. The bell’s name, “Min HpyuHmanHmanPyaw,” signifies its weight and is a mnemonic in Burmese culture.
Next, marvel at the grandeur of the unfinished Mingun Pagoda, a colossal structure initiated by King Bodawpaya in 1790. The pagoda remains an iconic symbol of Myanmar’s architectural ambition and historical legacy.Conclude your Mingun tour with a visit to the elegant Hsinbyume Pagoda, also known as Myatheindan Pagoda, built in 1816 by King Bagyidaw in memory of his senior wife, Princess Hsinbyume.
The pagoda’s unique design and white-washed terraces offer a serene backdrop against the Mandalay skyline.Afterwards, return to Mandalay and transfer to the airport for your flight to Yangon. Enjoy some leisure time upon arrival and settle in for an overnight stay at a comfortable hotel. Indulge in delicious meals at local restaurants, savoring the flavors of Myanmar cuisine throughout the day.
Day 10: Yangon Departure
After breakfast at hotel, check out and transfer to the airport for departure.
