Day 01: Yangon – Putao arrival (-, -, D)
Depart from Yangon Airport to Putao airport with the domestic flight. Arrive Putao and transfer to Guest House. Putao is situated in the north of Myitkyina, the capital city of Kachin State. The weather is cold around the year with snow peaked mountains, and different ethnic minority tribes can be seen. Putao is a good starting point for adventurous trekking and it is also the nearest town to Mt. Khakhaborazi (5889 metres), the highest mountain in Myanmar and in Southeast Asia. Friendly hill tribe people can be found when they come to sell goods at the market. Enjoy dinner and overnight at Putao Lodge.
Day 02: Putao – Shangaung – Waswandum (B, L, D)(jeep/trek)
In the early morning, take a walk to Putao market (approx. 10 mins) and visit attractive local market where usually busy with the buyers and sellers of local ethnic tribes. After breakfast, depart to upper Shangaung by truck/jeep depending on group size which will take about 1 hour (17 km) on a rugged road. Shangaung has two separate villages and both are the inhabitant of Lisu and Rawan tribes. Your adventure will start as we get off the jeep and start trek to Wasandum (approx. 6 hrs, 20 km) through Mr. Shangaung (4468 ft, 1362 meters). Pack lunch on the way and continue trek to Wasandum. First 10 km will be straight up along the trail winding up to the top of Mt. Shangaung from then trail goes all the way down to Wasandum. This will be the testing journey for you as you have to ascend from 1060 meters up to 1362 meters and then descend back to 860 meters. Wasandum is a small Rawan village situated by Namro creek. Check-in at guest house and for those who wish to wash up may go to Namro creek with crystal clean water. Dinner and overnight at Wasandum guest house in dormitory style.
Day 03: Wasandum – Awadum – Kalang – Ziyadum (B, L, D) (Trek)
After breakfast, proceed to Ziyadum through relatively flat land with just few of ups and downs. First, cross Namro creek to Awadum (approx. 3 hrs, 7.4 km). Awadum is mainly inhabited by Lisu tribe and separated into two by a large paddy field. We will go across through suspension bridge which spans Namlang creek to Kalang (approx. 1 ½ hr, 4.8 km). After lunch, continue trek to Ziyadum (approx. 2 hrs, 6.4 km) through deep evergreen forests. Ziyadum is situated at the northwestern most and also last frontier village in Putao region where Rawan tribes mainly reside. We recommend you to visit Ziya creek for a fantastic sunset view with a blazing snow mountains in the west which spark into steady flowing Ziya creek. Enjoy dinner and overnight at Ziyadum village house in dormitory style.
Day 04: Ziyadum (B, L, D) (Trek)
Enjoy breakfast and relax through the day. You can enjoy the mountain views by the Ziya River and do fishing iced-water fish in the river or take a day return trip to Chaungsone through evergreen forest where different species of birds can be seen and this will take approximately 3 hours with the distance of 9.6 km. On the way, you may have opportunity to meet with local hunters, medicinal plants and roots seekers, and socially interact with the local people etc. Pack lunch at Chaungsone camp and return back to Ziyadum. Enjoy dinner and overnight at Ziyadum village house.
Day 05: Ziyadum – Wasandum (B, L, D)(Trek)
After breakfast, enjoy your morning at guest house with the natural surrounding scenic views. After early lunch, bid farewell to the locals and return back to Awadum crossing suspension bridges and through beautiful evergreen avenues. Dinner and overnight at Wasandum guest house.
Day 06: Wasandum – Shangaung – Putao (B, L, D)(trek/jeep)
After breakfast, left the wildness behind and will be heading back through uphill to the plateau of Mt. Shangaung, before arriving downhill of Shangaung where our jeep will be awaiting to take us back to Putao. Pack lunch on the way. Arrive Putao and we will enjoy a farewell dinner with our fellow group members, including leaders, porters to commemorate the experience that we have shared for the past few days in this unique part of the world. Overnight at Putao Lodge.
Day 07: Putao – Machanbaw – Nat Kyun – Mulashidi – Putao (B, L, D) (jeep/trek/boat)
After breakfast, drive to Naungkhine by jeep (approx. 1 hr, 22.4 km). Cross a 211 meter long Malikha suspension bridge on foot to Machanbaw, home to Rawan people and a small administrative town. Proceed to “Stone Dragon” park (approx. 20 mins walk), a natural rock which looks like a giant snake-dragon. Take local fisherman boat down to Malikha River to enjoy the natural sightseeing of surrounding environment. This journey is one of the most beautiful spots in the wildness world having high reef and tropical evergreen forests. Pack lunch at the sand bank and return up stream by boat to Naungkhine jetty and proceed to Mulashidi village, home to Lisu tribe and visit around Lisu village and enjoy scenery view from Mulashidi suspension bridge across Mula River and snow-capped mountains can be found from distance as well. Return back to Putao and check in at hotel. Enjoy dinner and overnight at Putao Lodge.
Day 08: Putao – Yangon departure (B, -, -)
Enjoy your last breakfast in Putao and further visit in and around Putao with suggestion by your guide before you transfer to airport. After all, depart from Putao airport to Yangon to conclude this unique experience.
